Muhammad Ali’s secret on how to achieve greatness.
In the presence of greatness, it’s typical to think:
“How on earth did you do it?”
Some think it’s all luck, who you know and being gifted.
Others believe it’s how many hours you put in regardless of their quality.
From one of many live discussions, Muhammad Ali was asked:
“What’s the most important part of your training?”
What do you anticipate his response is?
“I wake up every morning and run 10 miles, do 500 pushups, mediate for an hour, journal, do affirmations, pray, take a cold plunge, red-light therapy, drink some greens, read a chapter of self-help and then I’m ready to start my day.”
You wouldn’t be wrong for thinking any of these.
I’m sure each of these are beneficial in there own way and have helped people in this world — yes, some even being experts in their craft.
Ali’s response:
“The central part of my training is dodging the nightclubs and the parties and the girls. You want the truth? It’s being in bed, by yourself, at 9 o’clock at night — that’s the truth.”
Sometimes the hardest parts of being successful isn’t doing the right actions.
Everyone knows what they should be doing.
A little less TV.
A little less alcohol.
A little less bad stuff all around.
In the end, it’s simply knowing what the wrong actions are and being disciplined enough to partake in them less.
